Heckington Windmill

Our Norfolk holiday ended today. While my family drove south, I headed northwards to Cumbria. As I drove over the border into Lincolnshire, I spotted this windmill in the distance, and couldn't resist a short detour to admire it.

Heckington Windmill is the only 8-sailed tower mill still standing in England with its sails intact. It was built in 1830, and had the 8 sails installed in 1892 by miller, baker and farmer, John Pocklington. Today the windmill has been restored and is now open to the public as a tourist attraction.
