Enduroists
Another woodland walk, but very different to yesterday's.
We had never walked around Grizedale Forest, so decided to do a circular walk there. It is a huge woodland owned by the Forestry Commission, so largely coniferous, and with some fine views of the surrounding hills, especially the Old Man of Coniston.
What we had not counted on was the mountain bikers. There seemed to be hundreds of them. Paths were largely segregated, but at times crossed. It turned out we were there for the "National Enduro Championships", which take place over a number of days over quite a wide area. So we had to depart from our planned route as it was blocked off in one place, being used at high speed by the "enduroists" (as they seem to be called).
Whilst J was working out on the map an alternative way down to our lunchtime stop, I took a few shots of cyclists careering around a tight bend. The blip is the one I like the best.
