The Ghost In The Shell

I went to see Ghost In The Shell  at the cinema this evening. Absolutely brilliant. The best cyberpunk movie since Bladerunner. Just like Vangelis' score for that movie, the soundtrack complements the stunning visuals to perfection. A multi-layered movie to watch again and again; there is just so much to look at. Plaudits, too, to Scarlett Johansson for her magnificent performance, bringing an intense vulnerability to the virtually indestructible cyborg. Major's body may be invulnerable, but that which she struggles to protect, the ghost of her humanity, is extremely fragile. It's the same balancing act that Peter Weller performed so masterfully in the original Robocop.

Well, of course the music is good. The Godfather of Techno appears.
