Diary of an Edinburgher

West Coast Day Two

What a brilliant day on the wonderful West Coast. We really have arranged the weather well!

After breakfast we went for a walk up into the forest. We'd asked a staff member who was patting Archie at breakfast time. Then we set off south to Lochgilphead and had ice creams before going on to the Crinan Canal. What a fab place that is! JR was keen to walk back along the canal, but was talked out of it. It was quite far. Next time.

There was plenty to watch there - boats using the locks, the tiny lighthouse being painted, a cafe with very good scones... there was also a big hotel and a seafood bar. Archie wasn't too sure about sitting on a rusty old boat. We then went to Ardrishaig, where the canal ends. The loch was like a mill pond.

Back home by 5.30, in time for a wee lie down before dinner. Best thing - Archie wasn't sick at all! Has he cracked it?

We had another superb meal in the hotel. Archie stood and silently watched all the comings and goings, including various dogs passing by. He only a few excited yips slip out when we started to leave. We had an evening walk down to the waterfront. Gorgeous.

I did 9,961 steps, and 6.9kms!
