Diary of an Edinburgher

West Coast Day Three

Oooooh! We have done well with the weather. Wall to wall BLUE today. And HOT.

Archie posed with a strange man outside the town jail, which we didn't visit, even though he was allowed in. A visit to the castle was on the cards. Well, not inside it, as Archie was not allowed, (he wasn't interested anyway) but we had a walk round the grounds. Even though that cost £5. Each! (Though Archie was free). We followed the 'Bluebell Walk' which was suitably gorgeous, though the bluebells are not at their best yet.

Archie had a great time, running hither and thither or trying to carry great big branches. If we're near a river, he's always on the look out for a way to get down for a drink. He leapt into ditches hopefully, but they were all dried up. Except one. Which was full of stinking black mud! He loved it and charged up and down the ditch, ignoring calls to desist, while lapping up the putrid liquid. His feet and legs were caked in the awful stuff, and soon solidified. He looked awful for the rest of the walk, as if he had black legs and a black pointed beard. No photos of him were taken, though I did get one of a wee friendly chaffinch. But a bit of a swish with water back at the car park, and a good brush, and he was almost presentable, if you weren't near enough to smell him.

We drove up the loch to the famous Loch Fyne restaurant. We just had a coffee there, sitting out in the sunshine (thereby avoiding the unwanted muzak). Then back to Inveraray, where we checked the tyre pressure, as this alert has been flashing up on the screen for days.

Archie's had a shower, and were now relaxing and looking forward to tonight's dinner. We have a 'Spring Fling' deal, dinners included, and the meals are superb. The rooms are pretty nice too - plenty of space and big showers. And ginormous white fluffy towels. Archie likes trotting up and down the two flights of stairs. I do not.

I walked 6.5km today, and 9,671 steps.
