Off Duty

A quick visit to the canal today made me worried that the Swans may have abandoned their nest but on closer inspection, Cob Swan is guarding on the other side of the hedge, in J's garden * and Mrs Pen appeared later having had a good break off the nest, so we hope that all will be back to normal.   J told me that over the weekend a gathering of noisy teenagers were seen poking round the nest, there were 9 eggs then and only 8 today so we just hope the parents haven't been upset in some way.

Also in extra is a lovely sight, but for a very sad occasion.  If the glass carriage had been bearing the coffin, I wouldn't have taken a photo.
