Violet Dream
It's been quite a windy day with intermittent sun: We decided on our favourite local walk which is a 7 mile walk along the ridge, and ancient footpaths, that separates Cardiff from Caerphilly. The views either side are stunning, especially the view over Cardiff and The Bristol Channel where you can see Flat Holm and Steep Holm islands (see extra).
The turn around point was The Travellers Rest pub on the ridge iteself, where we enjoyed a cuppa. The 12th century ruins of Castle Morgraig just behind it are hardly visible to those who don't know it's there (due to the overgrowth - criminal!) but nearby it's covered in bluebells where I took the main blipfoto. For virtually the whole walk the bluebells were in abundance, the best I've ever seen, and so it's my choice of photo for today. The other extra shows Mrs BB sat on a fallen tree with some of the lovely woods we walk through surrounding her.
This evening we've a couple of the children and partners around for a meal as we will be away for nearly a couple of months starting this weekend.
