Obliging Damselfly
We're back from Yosemite, and I pretty much did nothing all day. Well, I planted a few tomatoes and fooled around in the garden, I guess that counts for something. But my gardening ran smack up against economics: around here it used to be easy to find 6-paks of tomatoes in the nurseries for about four dollars, but marketing has changed to feature single plants in 4-inch pots for four or five dollars apiece, sometimes more for super organic heirloom trendiness. If you plant a quantity, 18 to 24 plants for us, it's crazy expensive to set out those rows. Next year I might try seeds. In the meantime I'm scouring the stores in a larger and larger radius to see if I can find what I need while the planting time is just right.
