Allium aerial bulbils
This allium 'Purple sensation' flower head has produced tiny bulbils at its base, and seems to have got a couple of mini flower spikes growing out of the main flower too. I haven't seen this on alliums before (though I gather it's common enough) although I recall seeing these bulbils on leek flowers. Apparently you can propagate from the bulbils, so I might try that, although how long you have to wait for a flower I don't know. The original alliums we planted have seeded themselves around the garden, and some of those are now flowering, so maybe not too long. After all, leeks and onions flower from seed in 18 months.
