Wintering over

Today whilst in Timaru I went to the art gallery where this big tree is and the Monarch Butterflies winter over there.
It is a massive cedar and up in the branches it is just covered with Monarchs. All with their wings closed and they hang there in clusters all winter. From ground level it is quite hard to pick them up. Will go in again with my big lens, although will be hard to get them any better as they are quite well camouflaged with all the yellowy seed heads on the tree. Anyway as lots say look in large to see them a bit better
