Squatters Rights

I always enjoy the return of our house martins.

Last year was eventful. Their nest of many years fell apart and was abandoned. I thought that was it, but late on they returned and rebuilt the nest, and raised a brood. Hooray !

This year has not started well. They have flown thousands of miles from Africa to find imposters occupying the family home. Watching this female flying to the edge of the nest I spied some very eager chick's gaping beaks.

Now I like our house sparrows, but ....... Grrrr !
