A proper builders merchant

Most of you will know by now what I think of DIY. We are at it again, at Julia's, as she is still sorting out her house although it looks lovely and she's made a marvellous job of it.
We arrived yesterday evening and, as she is away on a course, we let ourselves in with a key she had given us. The place is immaculate, or was until we got going!
A few jobs done including the reason we came up earlier than expected. 3 men arrived shortly after 0800 and ripped out the old boiler, which was located in the hallway can you believe! They did a great job of installing a new boiler in the attic, taking out the hot water tank and replumbing all of the associated piping. There's still some work to do with plastering of the hall ceiling, where they managed to cap the pipes above the ceiling level, and the wall where the old boiler was taken down. Electrician coming in the morning to finish off the boiler installation.
We've planed and re-hung the shed door (no ordinary shed) as it was catching and difficult to close, put a small bolt on the bathroom door (on the inside of course!), hung an IKEA tall cabinet in the bathroom and fitted a shower curtain tie back, freed up a jammed radiator, installed additional guttering around the porch (the builders had stopped 40cm short of the end of the porch roof, goodness knows why. For the 40cm I had to buy a 4m length of guttering so we also got a 90 degree joint and a couple of support brackets to extend it around the porch so it looks better. The staff at Turnbulls in Sleaford were incredibly helpful.
It's been a busy day and as it's raining tomorrow I also cut the grass out the back. It's an awful 'lawn' but it was too overgrown and the dogs were eating the grass and being sick!! A nice note to finish on. 

Talking of eating, couldn't be bothered to cook this evening so I went out and got Haddock and Chips, delicious and all the better for not having it very often.
