Hosanna

Into Manchester this morning for essentials and more.

We split up for a bit (I am not a good shopper), which gave me time to visit the cathedral briefly.

The new organ is a thing of beauty. The pipe shades have been designed by Stephen Raw, who is a text artist. There is a small exhibition explaining how the shades were made, which is fascinating. It turns out we already have some of his work - he has often illustrated poetry books by the poet laureate Carole Ann Duffy. The words used are all from the latin liturgy.

The cathedral is running a photography competition, with three categories. I might have a go, if I have more time there  before July.
