Looking on the bright side

I felt sorry for this obviously-elderly, shrouded couple that Minty and I followed down the hill on the way back from our afternoon walk.

It had been raining steadily all day and the figure on the right was using a walking stick and limping.

As we caught up with them, however, I asked if they were ok and both, smiling broadly, said they were loving their West Highland Way experience. (They were obviously from the USA or Canada.)

The rain and mist were completely obliterating the usual stunning scenery and the rain showed no signs of letting up, so I wondered if they were being sarcastic... but I got the feeling they weren't.

I hope  they weren't.
