Finished!

Having been reading the above book since March, I was determined to finish it before heading for France, so today I've sat out in the sunshine on the patio and done just that.

It's an enthralling story set in St Malo during the Second World War, about a blind 16-year-old French girl and an 18-year-old German soldier.

Since D#2 lives near St Malo, I've put in a special request to visit the city, which was so vividly described in the book by Anthony Doerr. Having suffered so much damage during the bombings it probably won't be recognisable now, but I'm looking forward to seeing it anyway.

Next blip should be from the other side of the Channel, all being well...
