Jellyfish Alert

Following a weekend of very little exercise I needed a good walk so we went for a trot along Portobello Prom.

The tide was retreating so it was safe to poke about on the rocky eastern shore looking at the geology, as indicated by an information board. Very interesting, too and I found a nice example of fossil gastropods.

I think this is a Compass jellyfish, Chrysaora hysoscella, so not uncommon, but I haven't seen this type before.

Edit: I now believe this to be a Lion's Mane Jellyfish, Cyanea capillata.
