Me and my big mouth!
Regular readers will recall a blip in June where I got a little irate about Ed Balls - Secretary of State for Education (or something like). In the second paragraph of my rant, (you can check via the link above) I wrote
"I wish these bloody people would actually come and visit the places that they decide are failing..."
Subsequently I have ranted further about the National Challenge, the list of failing schools and such like.
So imagine my reaction when the Headteacher announced to the whole school (students, staff and Senior team) that 5 minutes before our full school assembly this afternoon that it is very likely that we will be receiving Mr Balls when he visits our school this week.
The head couldn't have got to us to tell us before the assembly - but in front of the kids my reaction was somewhat tempered (hand over my mouth and "oh f**k" spoken silently behind the hand). When I checked with the boss that it wasn't some sort of silly wind up, which happens at our place, my reaction away from the kids was mixed.
Part of me panicked - "oh god - I hope my journal has not been spotted through some bizarre internet trawl by DCSF people to find references to Mr Balls" and "oh good - now he can come and see what we are really about and we can engage in some real conversation about our kids, our school and what we are doing"
It looks like we have gained some attention, from the previous ministerial visit in November and because our local MP has raised our profile down in Whitehall. Which is nice.
So my blip is one of the doodles that appeared in my note pad during our Senior team meeting this afternoon ... (I was concentrating honestly!
Maybe I should start doing the lottery seeing as what I wish for has happened twice now (this and Corin's proposal!)
Have a good evening guys - I have LOADS of work to do :-)
