Awesome

The hire car collected, it was time to head out of town across that Bay Bridge. A hectic highway but once we turned East on the 140 at Merced the traffic dropped away and a huge country opened up.
What indeed can you say about Yosemite? Does awesome cover it? It really is quite overpowering, and it's a bit errr difficult to capture the immensity and scale of it. We watched some climbers crawl up the face of El Capitan (behind me here) through binoculars; some were already settling for the night. And got a soaking at some monster waterfall. So back to the Motel at El Portal for burger and beer. Wholesome stuff. The waiter dude, delighted to be going off to get me a craft local beer asked where we from. Scatland? That's awesome he did say. He rather undid this delightful compliment later by describing the fact that we 'liked' our burgers as awesome.
Right, blip posted, got to get the engine running; a slight blip in planning - Tioga is of course closed, as I should have known. We may have a long drive.
