Memories

Eleven years ago I stayed in the castellated white house on the hilltop across the valley in this view of the olive groves south of Chania in Western Crete. This area is full of half-remembered paths and places, and I was relieved to find the bird sanctuary lake that we stumbled upon all those years ago.

Even better was the fact that we found our way back by the alternative route suggested by our elderly Sunflower Guide - a route that we bailed out off halfway, finding our way back through the olive trees.

Some eight miles, that walk - we're feeling it now over a brew of Mountain Tea...
