Chrysopilus Thoracicus

This is a new insect for me ~ a life insect! ~ which I have identified as a Golden-backed Snipe Fly ~ Chrysopilus Thoracicus. A member of the family Rhagionidae. Common in the eastern forests here of North America apparently. This one is a female.

It's an attractive insect!
