'Fast & Furious'

That's a day in Queenstown.

The pace changed today from tranquil rivers, slow mountain drives and taking our time enjoying the views to adrenalin charged action.

Firstly we caught the Skyline Gondola up to the top of the mountain behind town (Queenstown Hill? I think?) to get an overview of the area. This is where this shot was taken from. Coffee and ice cream for the kids for morning tea, then back down the hill for lunch at the Waterfront. Very nice meals and reasonably priced.

Seems like Queenstown is just one big peoples playground, every street corner has a shop offering the best deals on every conceivable activity available to mankind, while every other shop is either a souvenir or a restaurant / cafe. t's all set up so that you can easily hand over your credit card and be taken for a ride. So of course that's what we did, on the Thunder Jet boats around Lake Wakatipu and The Kawarau River. The boats are jet propelled and have 2 large V8 motors pumping 500 litres of water a second through each jet. The driver also pumps up the volume of AC/DC songs to eleven as you power through the water doing full 360 degree spins along the way.

Bella fell asleep during this adrenalin charged ride at 85km/h on the water, must have been calming??

Back in the car and headed south for Te Anau, a much quieter place and looking forward to seeing some stunning scenery at Milford Sound tomorrow.
