Dear Diary,

What is a small chipmunk to do for a better view?  Just hop up on Perpetua, the cast iron pig, and you can see the whole back yard!  She and Hoover are definitely taking advantage of our cool weather and sunshine to make frantic dashes to and fro to gather seeds.  This morning there was even a very light frost here and there but it quickly burned off.  I just hope the apple blossoms are not affected.

I had a lovely post birthday dinner with Joe and Rhonda last night and even had a birthday cake!  What a treat.  Rhonda added some small lusterware pitchers to my collect and also gave me a lovely apron covered with dragon flies.  She knows how I love them.  I will be anxiously scanning the skies for their return which will herald the end of the black flies…always a great moment here in Maine.  But I won’t wish this lovely blooming time away too soon.  I will enjoy it while it is here.
