Tansy Leaf Beetle
I spent the morning deep in the depths of my photography folders. I have a lot that have to be delivered very soon and have to make a start on. The photographs from Scotland are going to take time to sort so, I've decided to do one back blip a day to make my time more feasible.
Today I started by back blipping my visit back to Scotland Day One and added a link to some other photos of the day, if you're interested.
Jim came up today. He'd been in Guildford, answering phone-in nature questions on Southern Radio. We took the mutts up onto the hill to dog in for the local game keeper, have a good walk and to collect a a few Oregano seed heads. The meadow flowers are almost over now and I only spotted a couple of Meadow Brown still fluttering around the last blooms.
This Tansy Leaf Beetle, Galeruca tanaceti, was on the roadside as we crossed over to Newlands Corner from the North Downs Way. They can be seen seen on the sides of roads, lanes and in dry neutral grassy areas, feeding on Tansy, Yarrow, Wild Thyme, Oregano and St. Johns Wort.
There has been a real autumnal feel to the air and in the light today. Berries are turning and the first leaves have yellow tinges. I think this is it folk.. summers over!
