Aperture on Life

Last day with Lady D

Two more sleeps and LadyD will be in Bristol amongst new friends, studying hard and having a ball. She biked her way up here this afternoon for one last visit before she goes off to University. It won't be long before she comes home and I'm sure she'll enjoy her new independence.

We were on our way to walk the dogs when Lady D saw a poster advertising a photography exhibition in Clandon Park. Although a bit late we went in. I only live 5 mins away yet had never been inside. Now, I look forward to returning. The Palladian Mansion is a fascinating place housing a military museum dedicated to the Queens Royal Surrey regiment. Lady D wasn't keen on getting to close to this wax model of a soldier. Photography was a banned in the building and we were being followed, indiscreetly, by staff ensuring I didn't use the camera hanging from my shoulder.

The paintings by the first wildlife artist, Francis Barlow, were so intriguing I could have sat and admired them for hours. With so little time we skipped over the rooms and went to enjoy the exhibition by John Brockliss.

Have you ever had the impression that you are going to get booted out before the official closure time? We did. Doors slammed in front of us and it was made very obvious that they were closing before time. One man, a gardener, was superb and opened locked doors so we could have a peek inside before we were ushered out.

We walked the dogs along the canal for a while before coming home and all to soon the bike was started and Lady D left.

Good Luck Daisy! The mutts and I will miss you whilst you're away. Have fun and work hard. See you very soon.
