Loweswater Life

About 230 people live in Loweswater village and parish in roughly 90 households. Many of the houses stand alone, as this one, surrounded by fields and woodland. In the foreground flows the shallow River Cocker (just after it has left Crummock Water), on its way down to Cockermouth. Admiring this pastoral scene, it's hard to believe that this is the same river which broke its banks and flooded large stretches of land during the most recent flood of December 2015.
