Squirrel & Turtles
A now for a couple of really diverse photos...of late, I've been reducing the number of raw peanuts doled out to the Back Yard Squirrels. They've become very greedy and pushy, no surprise there as, after all...they are Squirrels! Clan Squirrel has not taken this turn of events with anything even close to well! So this morning when this exceedingly well fed representative of the Squirrel Community rushed the sliding glass door and shamelessly hung there, demanding more peanuts, I just had to get a shot of him!
The *extra* is of a very old boat which was probably used for hauling goods on the Silver River. We were kayaking on this crystal clear river which runs through Silver Springs State Park. Silver Springs was originally a rather famous tourist attraction here in Central Florida where several Tarzan as well as other 'jungle' adventure movies were filmed in the 1930's and 40's. In fact decedents of the Rhesus monkeys brought in for the Tarzan movies back in the day still call this area home. There are reportedly over 1000 of which we saw several today. Oh, and if you look closely, you can see a bunch of turtles sunning themselves on a sunken tree in front of the boat. It was a beautiful day on the river! :)
