Diary of an Edinburgher

Heatwave!

Even more scorchio today than yesterday!

We set off quite early (no gym visits) and ventured out to East Lothian to visit an ex-colleague of JR's. Archie had no breakfast, and sat on the back seat, and YAY! No vomit!

JR caught up with all the school gossip over a cuppa and pastries, while Archie tried to burst the residents' footballs, chased the neighbour's cat, and barked at other neighbour's dog.

At Alastair's suggestion, we popped in to the Smeaton Nursery Cafe. Luckily, we got the only table that was not in full sunshine! A very good scone and cuppa was partaken of.

Janet and Bailey were at the beach and asked us to meet them there. But our phones didn't work, and we got a bit lost walking through the woods. Actually, it was a whole misunderstanding of exactly how far the beach was! It was MILES (actually, the beach away in the distance in the last shot). We did eventually meet up with Janet and Bailey, just not at the beach.

We enjoyed the woodland walk, which was in the shade. Archie kept lying down, and when I could find a log without millions of nettles around it I sat down. I was fair puggled! (6,865 steps, 4.6km). I had to steal Archie's water when we got back to the car.

No traffic jams on the way home - everyone was probably still at the beaches. And after a shower and a G&T out on the recliners in the back garden, I began to revive. I cannae hack the heat!

Barak Obama's in town! Not often you can say that!
