"Ready for Memorial Day weekend?" he asks as he rings up my purchases. "Just about," I say, not really knowing what my plans will be other than checking out the hood's 3-day 'hometown fest' complete with an exhaustive list of bands and performers, a food tasting row, and an artificial beach (which, I'm told, will be installed at 5am tomorrow morning).

"In the meantime, can I take your pic?" "Sure thing! I just wish I'd had my hair trimmed a bit." "I hear you, man, so do I!" 

I am enjoying my new neighborhood :)
