Rain stops play

After the intense heat of yesterday we experienced more extreme weather with a thunderstorm of immense proportions. Daughter K and fiancee C arrived in time for lunch  and afterwards we all headed to Fell Foot for a stroll along the side of the lake. We hadn't been there long when it started thundering and lightening so we slowly headed back towards the car by which point it was threatening to start raining. We got home just in time as the storm passed over head and unleashed the heaviest rain I think I have ever seen (including monsoon rain in the far east). Blip was shot from the safety of the conservatory. The local Cartmel races had to be abandoned after four races.
