Bug hunting

Another day of public engagement - I can't remember a year when we've been involved in so many guided walks! Today was the annual bug hunt at King's Dyke Nature Reserve, near Whittlesey. The weather was warm and overcast, with a strong breeze, which unfortunately meant that many of the butterflies and dragonflies were not out and about. Nevertheless, a good range of insects was found and all the families seemed to have a good time, the pond dipping being particularly popular. It was lovely to see several very enthusiastic children - the next generation of naturalists?
