Wild Carrot
The wild carrot plant which seeded itself in a bed on our patio has grown enormous and now overshadows the neighbouring lavender bush. It provided a handy blip subject on a damp and grey day. I love the delicate tracery of bracts that surrounds the flower head - as pretty as any cultivated plant.
It's been good to have a quiet day at home to catch up with lots of those niggling little jobs that accumulate when you're busy. I can now actually see my desk, which was previously covered with heaps of paper and unopened post and have finally ordered several books whose pre-publication offers expire tomorrow. The next SLFG trip is more-or-less organised and I've sorted out permission for a site visit next week. A couple of loads of washing have been done, and I managed to exchange a pair of trousers that were the wrong length (though I got slightly told off because they had some cat hair on them - the penalty of having three moulting moggies whose fur gets everywhere!) All in all, a day well spent.
Tomorrow we're back out in the field, though it looks as though it might be quite a short day as thunderstorms are forecast from 2 p.m. onwards.
