Very Low Lake

We have had cloud hanging around all day, the only good thing about it is that it isn't very cold  This morning I went to Seniornet, where we learned lots of things about our computers.  Home for lunch, then a walk around town.  I have found a step counter in my iphone, (it's been there all the time!!), so I decided that I would do 8,000 steps a day.  Today I managed 8,024, so just made it!!

Year 1920

The Prince of Wales tours New Zealand.  Edward, the Prince of Wales visited NZ, partly to thank the Dominion for its contribution to the Empire's war effort.  He spent 4 weeks travelling aboard a lavishly appointed Royal train and Motor coach.  The dashing 'playboy' Prince was mobbed by adoring crowds everywhere he went.  He became King Edward VIII in 1936, but abdicated soon after to marry the American socialite, Wallis Simpson.

Our first Olympic team headed to the 1920 Olympic Games.  The 4 strong team had to endure nine weeks of travel on a ship just to get to Belgium.  They all performed well, with a bronze medal in the single sculls, 5th in the 100 metre freestyle, 4th in the 100 metre hurdles, and 5th in the 200 sprint.
