Incy Wincy Spider!

There I was, sat in the sunshine doing a bit of sewing, when this little critter suddenly jumped on my lap! He really was tiny, about 1/8th of an inch - I didn't have time to place something next to it for scale but the material he's on is an old white bed sheet!


Thanks for all the suggestions about yesterday's bear - I found a website that transforms unwanted or damaged fur coats into teddy bears so that might be the answer. On closer inspection I found that the paisley lining of his waistcoat is hiding the original silk lining, so that and the cravat are obviously modern additions. When I have a bit more time I think there's a teddybear shop in Lyndhurst where I can take him for a valuation.
