ACROSS THE BAY
Cleveland and North Yorkshire on the other side, Teesmouth over to the right among the industry - both living and expired - and busy skies above.
Extra shows some of the kittiwakes who are colonising the Headland in greater numbers each year. Here you see the contempt with which they regard attempts to deter them from their ledges with spikes and nets - they just incorporate them into their nests! Any bird who can hatch its eggs and bring up chicks on a tiny ledge hundreds of feet up on North Atlantic sea cliffs isn't going to worry about a few measly spikes.
Off for a few days from tomorrow, and I don't know whether I'll be posting. Back on the dreaded 8th June...
