Outside our house
I've been going on about the fact that most of the village is being dug up by contractors laying Virgin Media cables and that they didn't appear to be coming down our road. Not even Virgin Media knew where they were planning to go when I asked in their shop in town. Even today when I entered our postcode on their website it said they had "no plans yet for our street"
On Wednesday we had a note through the door saying they were starting on our road shortly and the action began this morning when a man with a nasty pointy thing dug started excavating the trench watched in time honoured fashion by two others. By the end of the day, the cable was laid and the trench filled in and resurfaced.
They promise up to 200mps which is somewhat better than the 11mps we're currently getting from TalkTalk via BT fibre to the nearest cabinet and 1 mile of ancient copper to our house. I know 11mps is good compared to some areas but TalkTalk quoted 24-32mps but can't deliver owning (they say) to the old BT copper.
Apart from that, it was usual Friday morning at the gym. Only part of the afternoon was successful in that I managed to install some guttering on the studio. Need another part which I'm collecting tomorrow. Cut the grass too. Susan was on doctor duty with her mum in the afternoon on a bit of an emergency so we weren't able to paint the studio windows as we'd hoped.
