A time for everything

Late afternoon reflections

Thursday
A somewhat stressful morning, helping Laura finish her packing for 2 1/4 years away serving with the Peace Corps in Macedonia. She had thought she was pretty well on top of things, but by the time she had got everything in the second suiitcase, it was overweight, so we ended up re-packing both suitcases, seeing what she could leave out. It wasn't an easy task since, like us, they have hot summers but cold winters with quite a lot of snow, so a good part of her winter case was taken up with her thick winter jacket and a pair of snow boots! Then she needed smart clothes for teaching, casual clothes, several books, some over the counter medications, etc etc. She kept asking my advice, but the problem is I'm not really the person to ask when it comes to packing light! Anyway, we finally managed it, and decided to go out for a walk in the beautiful sunshine to de-stress! We went down to the Little Miami trail in Loveland, and enjoyed a nice walk by the river, though the thoughts of her impending departure was always in the back of our minds, and she was still running through "Am I taking too much?", "Have I forgotten anything?" etc.!
