National Open Garden Scheme
At lunch Clickychick was idly scanning through the pages of the Open Gardens Scheme and suddenly said "Oh we have missed Trish's garden" followed quickly by "What date is it?" Well it turned out we hadn't missed visiting the garden it was still open today. It is a garden which has featured in Cumbria Life a number of times and quite a few other glossy magazines and photo books.
So that was out afternoon taken care of. Trish used to be a colleague of mine and her husband actually taught at the school CC went to in her teenage years. The garden was fabulous, very "cottage garden" in the way plants were seeding into places you knew they hadn't been planted in. As you moved round the garden you passed through a variety of "rooms" all separated from each other by foliage.
Eventually you found yourself beside the pond in the "woodland". This shot is taken in that area looking across the pond to the fells which come right down to the garden wall. The pond was fed by a little stream from the fell as were the various little waterways round the garden.
Well worth a visit it is next open on the 15th, 16th,17th June. Sadly we are away or we would be visiting again.
