Fungi alongside track
Another stunning day today, although cold initially. Three new bridges along the road to the beginning of the Heaphy Track since we were here last. This provides all-weather access, which has probably been in place since shortly after our last visit. Not too many people around, so we had the track mostly to ourselves, and saw these colourful fungi along the way.
The extra was taken early this morning when I walked up to the lookout and historic cemetery. The view out over this farmland is where the settlement of Collingwood might have been. The settlement was planned and mapped, with street names chosen, in England, but never built. Instead, the small town is built on and around a small hill, behind the photographer in this view, a more modest and very pleasant little town.
