How lovely to have Steve at home this morning! I'm sure I've said it before but he seems to be incredibly busy these days, I hope he's going to have time to go and earn some money when the jobs come rolling in!
He and Charley went out to the post office for me this morning, finally an elusive packaging order has arrived (over a week late) which is a relief. Ben went to school this afternoon - he was asking to go from around midday - and Steve and I and Charley headed into town for a walk and a coffee. Charley slept most of the time but on the way home we had to stop for an emergency boob on somebody's front steps!!
Another thing happened while we were out which is giving me the impression that events are conspiring to make one of my dreams an actual reality. The shop next door to the cafe we had our coffee in is opening tomorrow - a florist, with a side of jewellery making classes. Steve spotted it as well as me. I spotted the shiny things on the tables in the window, Steve spotted the potential for my dream! And as I was getting my phone out to take a picture to remind me to look them up, the shop owner only arrived and unlocked it and went in. And saw me about to take a photo, and came and chatted.... so he has my phone number and the blog address, a brief rundown of my dream (just one sentence but he liked the idea!) and has promised his business partner will give me a ring to discuss! So my dream - and one day I'll tell you what it is - is a step closer to being a reality!!
The weather has cleared up magnificently since this morning so we spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden. Charley seems utterly at home there, pottering about barefoot, investigating everything. He can now climb the step-up to the concrete deck at the bottom of the garden by himself, although getting down again is still an issue. Actually even a large twig presents a problem still, I guess because he can't see where it is when he's trying to navigate over it and the sensory spacial-awareness input things still haven't quite figured out the extents of his body and how it all fits together.
Then Ben and Charley had some fun digging in the digging patch. I think that may be a project one week. We'll buy a sieve and dig it all out (with the boys helping of course, sieve all the rocks and pebbles and glass and other rubbish out, and dig in all the coffee grounds and eggshells that I've been saving. Then maybe plant some daffodil bulbs and other stuff, and they can see what grows.
THEN Steve looked out of the window at them and noticed that suddenly Charley's hair had changed colour and so had his neck and back and bottom.... Ben had tipped a forkful (or three) of soil over his brother and was in hysterics! Charley was absolutely completely unfazed by it all and carried on chattering and squeaking happily, simply happy to be playing with his brother.
Chips for tea, home cut and cooked. Very yummy. Steve does good chips. We need a marathon chip cutting session one of these days, to bag and freeze them. It takes so long from peeling the spuds to sitting and eating the chips but they are worth it!
While the chips were cooking the boys had a MUCH needed bath together. We nearly had a full-scale meltdown from a tired Ben, who it turns out does Not like bubble bath. Bath had to be emptied and refilled :-/ He does like baths however and was fairly tolerant of sharing it with Charley until Charley had had enough and left Ben to splash by himself.
And then dinner and bed - phew.
I think I'm finally finding my groove, y'know. Happy with who I am. Figuring out what it is I enjoy, and going and doing it. Finding my style. Might have to blog about it.
I did joke to Steve though that all I needed now was bleached cropped hair and a nose piercing ;-) He actually smiled!!!!
Today's picture is a combination of one of the self-portraits I took specifically for today, plus some of today's outtakes (one of them is Steve's picture).... I called the picture "attachment", but it's just some of the ways my boys and I grow secure in our love.
