Horse care

A home educator meet today at our local stables to learn about horse care.  The boys groomed Buffy and learned how to pick out her hooves and tack her up ready to ride.  They learned about why horses wear shoes and why the horses at this stables only wear shoes on their front feet. They also learned all sorts of interesting facts such as the breathing rate of a race horse (14 breaths per second), the size of a horses heart and names of various parts of the horse's body.
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself too!
