Castle Combe

We were up early, had breakfast and down to the race circuit by 8.30am.

Dad registered, waited a few minutes then was taken around the course so he could see what it was like. His cars were booked for 9.20, 10.30 & 11.10. Mr C, mum and I walked around to stand on a bank for the best view. No rain yet but it was blooming cold. More like October not June!!

Well, they started early and his first experience was at 9.00am..... and it was all over by 9.30!!! He drove a Ferrari, Aston Martin and a Jaguar. He really want to drive the AM but his favourite was the jaguar. 3 laps each car but I think he would have loved at least 6 laps! He did enjoy the experience even if it was too quick.

We were all very cold so decided to visit Bowood House but when we arrived it didn't open until 11.00. So on to nearby Calne, by now it was raining. We found a little tea shop and sat for a while to warm up. We walked around a soggy Calne, not much there. Then headed back to the pub. Our rooms were being cleaned so we sat in the bar and played cards.

We rested in our rooms for a while before visiting Castle Combe, a very pretty English village. The weather had brightened up a bit and it was lovely to explore. The village has been used in many films including Warhorse and the original Dr. Doolittle.

Back to the pub for some really delicious food:-)

A few extras ;-)
