BeNiDoRm
BeNiDoRM - and not the program on telly.
Firstly, my Red Arrows hit the spotlight page - my first spotlight - so thank you all for your comments, hearts and stars :)
(comments this week might also be a bit hit and miss)
You either love it or dislike it....
When I first suggested coming to Benidorm to Mr. M. over 10 years ago - he reply was "what !".
Since then, we have been regular visitors to this, not only great Country, but wonderful town.
For you Brits, I am sure you have seen the Benidorm program on telly - but let me tell you a bit more about this place.
Yes, English is the main language and Brits are in huge supply over here. There is more concrete in Benidorm than probably any other town in the world. The two main beaches, The Levante and The Poniente are the cleanest in the world (so I am told) and the town has done a lot over the last 10+ years to clean up its act and make it a good and cheap holiday destination.
As one approaches a certain age, we still dip our toes into the nightlife over here - and let me tell you it is brilliant, with some real Spanish bars, restaurants and tapas bars that are first class - did I mention that "cheap" word again ? Spaniards, including their children don't tend to eat until gone 11pm (even on a school night !) and there is no better way to enjoy the evening with vino, some tapas and watching the colourful folk pass by.
Step outside of Benidorm, and you have some of the most beautiful countryside and villages that you will ever find. The scenery is truly spectacular - and it is here you will find and enjoy the real Spain.
We are creatures of habit, Mr. M. and I - and always stay in the same hotel, a 15 minute walk from the main town - with a panoramic view over the town, and away from the noise of folk enjoying the nightlife into the early hours.
We are here with our good mate, Gary from Cheltenham - who has an adjoining room - very convenient to knock on the wall when it is "gin o clock" time, to sit on the balcony before heading into town to enjoy the evening.
