Across the road
I am standing at my mailbox to take this photo of the construction happening across from my house. The crews did not work for about a month but now they are back finishing up the water and sewer, storm drains and road grading. My neighbor said someone told her there would be 100 houses here as they squeeze out a house every quarter acre.
Instead of clearing a forest why don't they tear down old, dilapidated buildings to put up homes where there are no trees anyway plus usually closer to where people work. I know of a couple places close by that would be ideal.
The only good thing about this great open field is I have a big sky view to the south. On August 21 our area will have the perfect view of the solar eclipse and based on where the sun is now and the path it moves I think this field will offer an unobstructed view. Hotels are already being booked up and many eclipse parties are being planned. My favorite winery is going all out with music, food, wine, a t-shirt and the dark glasses for a price. Schools here were supposed to start on that day but they postponed until Tuesday. The total eclipse only lasts for a little over 2 minutes.
Maybe I will have a lunch and look party here at my house!
And maybe we will not have a cloudy rainy day. And maybe there won't be any houses being built across the road for a while.
