Watching the World go by!

A very interesting day at Amersham Studios on a day's photography course. It's a lovely studio quite close to where I live which runs many courses, many of which are under the auspices of the RPS. Today was about story telling through a series of images and the strategies that can be used. The morning was spent in the studio with theory and some practical tasks. After lunch we were taken to a mystery venue for the photographic challenge.

The venue turned out to be the Canal Basin and museum at Rickmansworth. It was a beautiful afternoon even though the light levels varied enormously and we were set the task of shooting images with a brief of portraying a summer's day by the canal. We were also given a short ride on a boat.

This is one of my shots were one of the boat owners was sitting out on the tow path. I was initially drawn to the colourful washing hanging up to dry but, as we went past, I noticed the lady sitting out on her chair.

This evening we have had the first choir rehearsal for a Messiah performance in France mid October; we'll also perform the same work for our Christmas concert on 23rd December. The Messiah is a difficult piece to perform well, even though it's frequently done by choirs - always a good sing as well as exhausting.
