River rafting!
With our U3A today, it's probably true to say, I crossed off River Rafting from my Bucket List!
We drove down into Murcia Province, and went Rafting on the Rio Seguro.
There were 40 of us, with 4 experienced leaders, in 4 rubber 'Zodiac' type rafts,
Each of us equipped with a life jacket, a hard 'crash' helmet and an oar! The river was flowing quite swiftly, and we had to row together quite hard in places! There were some fairly gentle rapids and one more dramatic wear!
I had mistakenly thought the hard hat was protection for rocks on the river bed..... but in reality it was essential protection .... for the tree branches, bamboo and reeds along the banks, which we seemed to meet frequently!
We got soaked..... by other enthusiastic rafters!..... knowing this was going to happen, I didn't take my camera in the boat! ...... this is not ' my ' photo.... but it is a photo taken of a typical raft, exactly where we were!
After the 'adventure', we showered, put on dry clothing ..... our coach driver insisted all wet shoes /clothing went down in the luggage area....and went off for a well earned Spanish Lunch!!
