Clangers

The Village Day theme this year was "Space Age" so my WI chose to decorate our cake stall with knitted Clangers from the popular children's TV programme. The puppets in the TV programme are actually knitted so these looked very authentic. We had made about twenty of them and they sold well alongside the cakes. (more Clangers in extras) We thought the stall looked brilliant, but we didn't win the competition, losing out for the second year running to one of the newer WIs in the village. We will have to pull our socks up!
My role in the Clanger effort was to bake a cake and to take photographs for the WI website. The knitting pattern looked far too complicated for me! All our takings go to the Community Association. 
It was a very hot day, and the children in their their space suits soon looked overheated! This is a lovely community day with all the organisations and schools pulling together.
They won't be pulling together on Tuesday when they will be battling it out in the Village Week Quiz. As last year's winners my WI is organising it and I have been involved in framing the questions and will be busy on the evening itself. 
It is a busy time of year.
