The Journey Home
We were up at 6.30am to finish packing and load the car to leave our apartment in Afrata (Crete) at 8am after saying our goodbyes to the owner, Robin, who was doing his early morning swim.
As we drove down the cliff to get on to the New National Road, the sun was breaking through the clouds casting a lovely reflection on the sea. I stopped and took a blipfoto which is my favourite of the day.
We handed back our hire car that we'd had for the 6 weeks and put 2,500 miles on the clock, and then checked in for our British Airways flight back to Gatwick which arrived on time at 4pm; and they didn't lose our cases!
After picking up my car from the person whose drive we rented we started our three hour drive home. The amount of traffic on the road was amazing for a Sunday evening. Our first traffic jams for 6 weeks - welcome home!
