The Crazy Wild West, Hove

The second day of our short trip to Brighton so we decided to go and investigate the other part of the city, Hove. Now Brighton itself is a fantastic place for a bit of R & R but sometimes you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of it and Hove is the perfect antidote. We started by heading along the seafront. One of the first things we came across was this surreal crazy golf course - it was closed and so looked strangely melancholic but made me smile at the same time!
After that we strolled up to Hove Museum & Art Gallery where I took today's second shot (see extras). The museum was showing an exhibition of puppets and it's related arts. They were brilliantly made and fascinating to look at but I've always had a strange aversion to them going back to my childhood - I was one of those small kids that was rather scared by the Thunderbirds puppets, from the heads that were too big for the rest of their bodies to those weird, dead serial killer eyes! It was time to calm myself down (!) with a nice coffee and a bit of cake so we found a lovely little cafe and sat reading the papers - very relaxing.
Hove has many very handsome streets and squares so we wandered around a few just taking in the architecture, the wide streets and the genteel atmosphere. One of my favourite squares is Palmeira Square - the sweep of the grand terraces are majestic and the small park in the middle so inviting to just have a quiet sit in.
On the way back to Brighton I spotted this runner going past the colourful beach huts (second extra shot) and thought she looked so cool in her shades. I took the third extra shot because I loved the lettering on the hoarding and the answer to the question "What is Your Heart's Greatest Desire? Emancipatory communism"(!!!!!). The last extra was purely because I just loved the combination of the elements when I came across them - as good a reason as any to take a photograph.
After all our activity it was time to find a nice pub for some food and a beer or two, so we went to a lovely place called The Better Half and had thoroughly enjoyable time!
