Looks Good To Me

My son and I went for a hike on Father's Day. Our planned destination was the Oyster Dome, in the Chuckanut Range, with a stop at Lily Lake for lunch. The trailhead is just a twenty minute drive from my house.

The weather didn't look promising, but the forecast was for clearing by noon. It started raining just after we began hiking, and it rained off and on all day. It was hard to tell when it wasn't raining once the overhead foliage got saturated and started dripping.

After we'd eaten our lunch at the lake we decided not to continue to Oyster Dome -- the renowned view would have been blocked by the low clouds and rain. When we went there a couple of years ago it didn't rain but it was foggy. Maybe we'll be lucky on the third try!

We took a slightly different return route, completing a seven-mile loop. The elevation gain was about 1,000 feet.

In the extras you can see water lilies on the lake, pizzas growing on a tree, and a strange creature lurking under a log
