Vermeeresque

It was a choice. I took several photos of s dredger in Newhaven Harbour today, shovelling great scoops of mud out of the entrance to the harbour. But I took one facing the other way, and this is it. It reminds me of Vermeer's View of Delft - a painting I've known all my life. I grew up with it; a print faced me for years as I sat at table in my parents' dining room, and that same print now hangs in my stairs.
